These animals have always been hunted for their fur. It was especially valuable in the 18th and 19th centuries, but nowadays it is in lower demand. This fur can imitate mink and other expensive furs, but it is not long-lived and quickly becomes shaggy. Hunting raccoon species is allowed and a breeder may also use these rodents as fur resource.
